The selection of welding equipment is an important part of formulating welding processes, involving many factors. However, the following aspects should be noted.
1. Technical requirements for the welded structure
The technical requirements of the welded structure include the material properties, structural features, dimensions, precision requirements and usage conditions of the structure, etc.
If the welding structure material is ordinary low-carbon steel, an arc welding transformer can be selected. If the welding structure has high requirements and low-hydrogen electrodes are needed for welding, a DC arc welding machine should be selected.
If it is the welding of thick and large parts, an electroslag welding machine can be used. If it is bar butt welding, cold pressure welding machines and resistance butt welding machines can be selected. For active metals or alloys, heat-resistant alloys and corrosion-resistant alloys, inert gas shielded welding machines, plasma arc welding machines, electron beam welding machines, etc. can be selected according to specific circumstances.
For a large number of welded structures with fixed structural forms and dimensions, dedicated welding machines can be selected.
2. Actual usage situation
Different welding equipment can be used to weld the same workpiece. Therefore, it is necessary to select the more suitable welding equipment based on the actual usage conditions.
If there is a lack of power and gas sources during field welding, only arc welding generators such as diesel (gasoline) DC arc welding generators can be selected as welding equipment.
For precision welded parts that are not allowed to be further processed or heat-treated after welding, an electron beam welding machine with concentrated energy, no need to add filler metal materials, fewer heat-affected zones and high precision should be selected.
3. Economic benefits
When welding, the energy consumption of welding equipment is considerable. When selecting welding equipment, it is necessary to consider choosing equipment with low power consumption and high power factor as much as possible under the premise of meeting the process requirements.
